Speaker: Juan Sevilla Pastor y Carmen Pastor Gimeno Title: "Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: practical aspects" Curriculum Vitae: Juan Sevillá and Carmen Pastor are clinical psychologists. They graduated in Valencia and coursed their Postgraduate Studies in U.S. (New York), England (Oxford) and Holland (Grønningen). They have published over 40 articles in applied clinical psychology, 6 book chapters and 8 books, plus a DVD. Currently, they are about to publish a book about the application of the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Schizophrenia. They work and directed the Center of Behavior Therapy (Valencia), it is a private institution dedicated to treating people with all kinds of emotional problems and the training of psychologists, in a postgraduate level, in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. At this time, the Master of Clinical Psychology of Behavior Therapy Center is the oldest in Spain. Her clinical work over 27 years of experience, includes, especially, the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression; but in the last years it has been focused on the application of psychological therapy for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Recently, they have conducted a research about the use of Psychological Therapy in Bipolar Disorder. At this point they are processing the data; they have published a Handbook for Therapists and they are members of the group of experts that the Ministry of Health has designated to prepare the empirically valid treatment guide on this subject, publication imminent. They are frequently invited speakers in Masters, Courses and Conferences. At the Congress of the World Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, held in Barcelona in July 2007, they offered a seminar on Psychological Treatment of Panic-Agoraphobia. In July 2008, they were invited by the International Association of Cognitive Psychotherapy to give a seminar on "Use of Humor in Psychotherapy" at the World Congress held in Rome. This same course was repeated at the European Congress in Helsinki in 2009. They are teachers in a postgraduate level of the “Universidad Complutense de Madrid”, “Universidad de Valencia”, the “Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca”, and the VIU (Valencian International University). In the area of the OCD, the Behavior Therapy Center of Valencia is an institution of national reference, receiving customers from all over the Spanish geography. They have published a book on the subject and several articles. |
