Round table discussion: The EAP Project to Establish the Professional Competencies of a European Psychotherapist

Curriculum Vitae:

Courtenay Young (UK), Traudl Szyszkowitz (Austria) & Renée Oudijk (Netherlands) are currently all members of the EAP´s European Training Standards Committee (ETSC) Working Group that is developing the EAP´s Project to "Establish the Professional Competencies of a European Psychotherapist": See website www.psychotherapy-competency.eu. This is a 10-year project (from about 2008 to 2018) to ´define´ the work of a European Psychotherapist by establishing what the ´professional competencies´ of such a person should be; which is (of course) in line with the EAP seeing psychotherapy as an independent profession and this Project should also help differentiate between the work of a psychiatrist, a clinical psychologist and a psychotherapist. The presentation will be made through a short introduction; followed by a Round Table discussion. Hopefully people will be interested in this concept (increasingly common in many professions) as it gives a clear and detailed description of what we all ´should´ be doing.
